IN THE NEWS…James Marchese reported his employer, Cell Therapeutics, to the federal government for defrauding Medicare while promoting a medication for cancer. The government sued Cell Therapeutics. The government also claimed Marchese should receive none of the resulting settlement, due to his alleged involvement in the fraud. ( The New York Times) The judge eventually ruled that Marchese had been involved and granted him only 15% of the company’s $10.5 million settlement. So Marchese got $1.575 million. That’s a reduced share of the settlement. (12/14, Seattle Post-Intelligencer)
